Leather is nothing other than skin that has been tanned so that it can be long lasting. It is used for clothing, shoes and handbags. So we know what "leather" is, but what different kinds of leather are there?

Full grain leather

This is the most noble form of leather that is composed of both layers of skin. It is the most noble form of leather. It is tough, waterproof and a high quality product. You'll find nappa leather that has been surface-treated, and also full grained leather, and distressed leather.

Nubuck leather

Nubuck leather is leather skin that has had a special treatment to make it look like velvet. The surface of the leather is scratched with sandpaper. The result is a leather that is supple and easy to work with. This leather can also be oiled to make it shiny.

Sheepskin

Sheepskin is sanded to give it a velvety look while the wool is turned to the inside of the garment. Sheepskin products are warm and breathable, and also robust and supple. Sheepskin is also used for shoes and coats.

Split leather

Split leather is the least noble of leathers. Split leather is in fact the inner part of the skin. It's thinner and not as resistant as full grain leather. However, it is more affordable. We can tell the difference between full grained leather and split leather because of the fibrous state of the outside part of the leather.
