The handbag mystery

A woman without a handbag is like a fashionista without a wardrobe: it doesn't exist! It's too bad, there's nothing we can do about it! As if it were that each one of us were born with a handbag or purse chromosome. It's one of life's biggest mysteries, at least in the eyes of men.

And therefore, especially for the men out there, I've decided to unlock the mysteries of the eternal question that you ask yourselves (yes, you do!): but what exactly do you carry from morning to night in your XXL handbag?

Ready? Ok, take notes:

- A oversized wallet containing 47 different loyalty cards at least (don't ask me why 47)

- A large water bottle to stay fresh all day long. It seems to help when it's 40° in the shade.

- A keyring with three keys and at least nine charms. Right away, you already have less space.

- Sunglasses. At least two pairs to handle the different brightness throughout the day.

- A make-up bag

- A pair of flat sandals. Yes, I know...but it's in case our 10cm wedge heels start to hurt our feet.

- All sorts of papers, so many that you wonder if it's not a portable trash bag.

- An agenda to schedule your meetings and your shopping wish-list

I'll stop there. Regarding my wish list, here's my handbag selections that are currently on sale:

Category - Pouches and handbags to wear in a relaxed fashion :

Category - Evening Clutches:

Spring-Summer 2010: try sandal-boots!

To help us break out of the daily fashion routine, designers often try to "wake" us up by offering us audacious and unique shoe with creative forms. This winter, we were introduced to the open-toed low boot, a mid-length boot with an opening to show off just a few inches of your toes. With the beginning of the Spring-Summer 2010 season, it is another revolutionary concept that we can't stop talking about: the sandal-boot.

Minelli is right on trend with their latest spring/summer designs and city girls looking for high-fashion models should find everything they need among their high-heeled creations. Quite chic with their detailed straps in quality leather, yet a little rebellious with their studs and metallic finishings ... I'm sure this isn't the last we'll hear about sandal-boots from Minelli!

One of the best known brands among real trendsetters, Cosmo holds nothing back and has designed a line of shoes that are unique yet as glamorous as ever. With their resolutely sensual lines, they are subtle enough for any wardrobe and yet will give you a seriously trendy look!

A newcomer in the fashion world and a welcome member of the fashion community thanks to their original and fun designs, Dkode has followed this trend to the letter while adding their own distinctive and personal touch. With this brand, you can find any style, from the creative to the classic, not to forget a few girly choices with bows and ribbons! Be patient, the new collections are coming...

Shoes fit for a Princess

You may not have heard, but I'm in a princess-power mood at the moment. My Facebook wall resembles Disneyland, my work desk looks like Sleeping Beauty's castle, and my flat like Barbie's palace (well, not quite).

After wearing my Converse all weekend and dealing with my frozen feet, it is time to ask a crucial question: what would a princess wear? Which brings up the eternal debate between a furry slipper or a glass slipper ... you know the ones I'm talking about. The ones that the Princess loses so that Prince Charming will chase after her. It's too bad nobody knows what HE was wearing for shoes.

You could pick a furry or fur-lined shoe. However, I can't really image a princess wearing UGGs, but one has to take into account the times in which we live and the current weather.

If you prefer a glass slipper, à la Disney, then you prefer precious, fragile and sumputous.

I'll have to ask my fairy godmother to choose for me. While I'm waiting, maybe I'll lose one of my trainers on the staircase and see what happens.

Hidden Treasures of the Winter 2009-2010 Sales

So finally, with this cold weather we've been having here in the United Kingdom, have you had the courage to go out shopping or have you decided to wait? Personally, I'm only going outside if I have to - I prefer to stay home where it is warm and check out the sales on the internet.

If you are used to following my blog and reading my articles, you should know that my passion is shoes. It goes without saying that in only one week of sales, I've already purchased a few pairs.

I went back on Spartoo.co.uk yesterday so that I could show you a few pairs of boots and court shoes currently on sale. Even if I can't buy every pair that I want, at least I can have the pleasure of sharing them with you. And maybe you can get a pair in my place!

Firstly, I checked out all the boots and I can confirm that I absolutely love the new styles from Cosmo Paris.

At Cosmo Paris, I fell in love with the Cosmo Paris CHIPI (3)model in leopard print - it's so different than what you see normally and really gives a femme fatale look.

You can also be daring with a glam-rock style thanks to Buffalo with the model Buffalo MAHR (2) and their 10cm heel with studded straps that criss-cross on the top of the foot.

Nice surprise with this pair of boots Mellow Yellow GATACA (1) that combine the western look of the cowboy boot and the refinement of two leathers (smooth leather and suede leather).

1. Mellow Yellow GATACA (Black)£115.05 instead of £177.00
2. Buffalo MAHRI (Blue), sold out!
3. Cosmo Paris CHIPI (Leopard), £122.00 instead of £244.00
4.-.6 unfortunately no longer available!

I decided to check out the court shoes next. In case you were wondering, I obviously couldn't resist! I decided on a classic - a pair of black stilettos. I chose the model Buffalo SIRVEL (2) in black patent leather for a glamorous look.

Still going with neutral tones, I also picked the pair Buffalo ALICIA (1) with a rather classic cut yet chic thanks to their silver-plated leather. Still with Buffalo, but this time more colourful, Buffalo MARISA (4) so girly thanks to their beautiful suede leather.

To finish with Buffalo who, if you haven't noticed, have been my real favourite with regards to court shoes/sandals, I fell in love with the pair Buffalo PANILI (5), midway between a pair of wedge heels and a pair of stilettos. With their 11cm heel and multiple colour combinations, there is only one thing left to say: I love it!

Finally, I feel like I have déjà vu with this pair of leopard print court shoes Cosmo Paris STARA/PON (6), since I have already chosen the matching pair of boots. So, are you court shoes or boots ?

1. Buffalo ALICIA (Silver)£68.99
2. Buffalo SIRVEL (Black patent-leather)£55.90 instead of £86.00
3. Ash ORCHID (Turquoise), currently not available
4. Buffalo MARISA (Violet)£71.25 instead of £95.00
5. Buffalo PANILI (Prune / Orange / Brown), currently not available
6. Cosmo Paris STARA/PON (Léopard)£75.60 instead of £75.60

Between the time that it took me to write this article and the time to publish it, I could of easily added a few more pairs! A word of advice, keep coming back to Spartoo.co.uk to find the best deals and the lowest prices!

Christmas hangover

So, what was hiding under my Christmas tree this year ?

…You guessed right ... low boots!!

Bought from Spartoo, they are from Minelli. I'd like to take the time to reiterate that the Minelli page at Spartoo, where I most recently bought my little black studded clutch bag, is full ofgood deals ! Keep your eye on them for the sales, I think there will be a lot of really good deals.I chose these!

I was absolutely searching for black low boots, but I wasn't 100% sure that the "cowboy boots with heel" style would work for me. And naturally, I've been wearing them non-stop since I received them! The leather is beautiful and soft and yet they don't gape around my heel. What more could you ask for!

What to do?? (continued..)

Ah, the month of November, what happiness… an alarm that doesn't go off, a migraine that won't go away, ever changing weather…

Thankfully, I have the ideal remedy: nothing better than a quiet evening, a nice warm dinner, reality TV shows, and thinking about fashion on my blog!

So here we go again with my Mellow Yellow low boots that I bought a few weeks ago on Spartoo.co.uk and that I already mentioned here.

After a little bit of research, I tried my low boots with an outfit that more or less corresponded with what I've seen in my latest magazines: a pair of shorts, a tunic, and dark leggings.

In all, it was cute ... but I still don't know, I'm not 100% convinced ....

So? What do you think?

Shoes fit for a Queen

The other day, I had a little jar of magic potion, which looked a lot like these. I keep it on my desk to ward off bad moods. I did a quick google search so I could show you exactly what I mean.

potions-magiques.jpg

In reality, it is more of a serum for dry and damaged hair, but I've decided that it is going to be a magic potion. "Do not swallow" is written on the back, but I'm still going to cast a spell with it : Normalement c’est de la potion pour cheveux abîmés, mais j’ai décidé que ce serait de la potion magique de fée. Il est écrit dessus “Ne pas avaler” mais je vais quand même ensorceler des gens avec : I'm going to cast a royal spell, and everyone will have to do what I want ( well, we can put it to a vote...)

I also have a royal headband, with sequins that sparkle like the sun. You could almost say it is a headband fit for a princess, but a queen is even better.

To go with all of this, I need a magic wand and the perfect shoes. Dignified shoes that shine like I do. Shoes as light as they are beautiful ... what do you choose when you have aspirations like I do?

Shiny silver flat shoes, now I think that will do the trick.

What to do??

The return of my reoccuring existential question: how should I wear these? This time the object in quetion is this pretty pair of low boots that I bought online last week.

In fact, I had received a gift-voucher from Spartoo.co.uk last week, and for those who follow me on Facebook, you know that the minute I received the gift-voucher I was already thinking about what pair of shoes I was going to buy.

Pretty quickly I decided that I wanted a pair of  Mellow Yellow boots, but which ones? I couldn't decide between two models: the black semi-high "Gratine”or the low brown Fetioss? It was an intense debate, but I finally decided to go with the Fetioss!

I only had to wait a few days for delivery and, as promised, I was NOT disapointed. The finish is perfect and the leather is beautiful! What more could you ask for?

The only thing? I have absolutely no idea how to wear them ...

It's really been bothering me.

I've tried them with a pair of slim fitting jeans, but the boot gapes around my foot and you could see the cuff of my jeans from the top ( I *know* I don't have to cuff my jeans, but I'm too short and I don't like sewing!)

I tried to see what people were wearing in the streets for a little inspiration. Nothing. You would think that everyone has already put away their low boots and is only wearing high boots now that the weather is getting colder......

What to wear with pink leggings?

The other day when I was shopping at H&M, I saw that they had viciously put pairs of pink leggings on sale right next to the register. Of course I couldn't help myself, what is £3 more when I've already spent £50? I know I'll wear them (even though they are bright), but the question is, with what?

With a pair of leggings that are THAT bright, I think black is the way to go. As luck would have it, I don't really have a lot of black shoes....

Mellow_Fudgees.jpg

I've concluded that, in order to even wear these pink leggings, I'm going to need a pair of black boots. . Flat and simple that go with everything.

The Fudgees from Mellow Yellow for example ...

Would you like a pair of Maloles?

On Saturday, up early and motivated, I decided to take advantage of the calm to do a little window shopping in the city. Behind all those windows I couldn't help but notice all those shoes I'd love to have ... well, it was enough to feed my need for luxury. maloles.JPG

A few steps later, my dreams became a tangible reality : flat shoes from Maloles. I can't get enough of the A/W collection! .

What shoes for a shopping trip to Paris?

Tomorrow, I've decided, I'm going to offer myself a little shopping trip to Paris.

For someone who has never been there before ( I've been to New York but never Paris ), the essential question is : what shoes should I bring?

I could always wear my new Nike Court Tradition. But I just got them and they are still a little stiff. Plus I like wearing them to show off at the office. It's better!

I could also bring a chic and comfortable pair of flat shoes, easy to take off when shopping and trying on shoes ( you can never have too many pairs of shoes after all ... ).

Another choice could be a pair of high heels, to show all the French girls that we English are just as classy.

In addition, I could take a pair of flat boots, to make sure my feet stay nice and warm.

But finally, I think a sure bet, the shoe that won't betray me is the timeless Converse. All I have to do now is choose among the 7 pairs I own ....

Just for kicks, here are my pink Nike trainers that I love so much!

U Roads - A Committed Shoe

The protection of the environment is a necessity. Some brands, like Veja and the very young and trendy Faguo Shoes have understood this and are really starting to make a difference.

With their concept of recycled shoes, the Italian brand U Roads has also become a pioneer of the eco-citizen movement. Created in 1992 in Italy, U Roads designs all kinds of trainers, shoes and boots in leather, canvas, and recycled tyres (!).

The particularity of U Roads is the manufacturing of the sole of the shoe thanks to recycled tyres. What's more, they are the only shoe brand in the world to have been accredited by the United Nations Programme for the Environment.

One more proof that is it possible to combine style and respect for the environment.

To rain or not to rain .....

Last week, I took the first annual leave of my career ( except for sick days and family obligations), to take a weekend holiday to the countryside. No, i'm  not joking.

.

Even though the weather forcast from my Iphone tried to make me see the bright side with an optimistic forcast ( same location, same date, yet 2 degrees warmer than the forcast on TV...go figure). But the essential is the same: rain for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

I was hoping to make the summer last a little bit longer, but I just don't see that happening anymore. I would at least like to keep my feet dry as you never know how the weather will change! Luckly I found these Aigle Venise Deluxe boots. The English countryside isn't exactly Venice, but a good rubber boot will take you anywhere!

Adidas Stan Smith : As Orignal as ever!

The best selling trainer of all time is .... the Stan Smith ! With more than 30 million pairs sold to date, they have seduced sports players, trainer addicts, and fans of old-school style. And now, they are better than ever!

Ok.....a little history lesson for those who haven't caught up yet! Like all legends, the Stan Smith has quite a unique history : created for the first time in 1965, they were the first trainer entirely made of leather and they were first associated with Robert Haillet. It was in 1971 that Adidas  decided to rename them in honour of the great tennis player Stan Smith. Often imitated but never equaled, they have kept their original spirit while continuously updating according to the times. Slightly padded for optimum comfort and stability, each version illustrates the careful design of the sportswear brand.

After more than 40 years of existence, the Stan Smith is still a timeless Adidas model and is always the must-have trainer in every collection. I love the classic version for fans of vintage fashion with an orignal touch. Perfect for those who like to be different all the while staying resolutely fashionable!! For the littlest among us, there is even a Velcro version!

Spread the word!

A legend among the legendary, timeless and yet modern, the Chuck Taylor All Star is a must-have in any wardrobe. Low-top or high-top, in canvas or leather, classic or collector's item, there is a Converse for everyone !
